Desired Board Flex

Polypropylene (PP) cores come in differing densities. PP is lighter and more durable than any other bodyboard core material. It is also less temperature-sensitive than other cores, so it maintains good flex characteristics in most water temperatures.

However, higher density PP is stiffer and works best in warmer water and lower density PP works better in cooler water. After a short “break-in” period, each board’s flexibility will increase as some of the core’s cells are compressed by normal riding.

LITEFLEX PP CORES (LFX)- For colder water temperatures (below 70°F), smaller framed riders, or those seeking more flex in their board, consider our low-density CBHP1-L models

KINETIC 1.5 PP CORES (K15)- Our CBHP1-M models feature a medium-density PP core, ideal for riders seeking a “hybrid” bodyboard. Designed for temperate waters or for those wanting a tailored balance of stiffness and flex. Among core options, K15 offers slightly more stiffness than LFX, while remaining more flexible than K19.

KINETIC 1.9 PP CORES (K19)- For warmer water temperatures (above 75°F), larger framed riders, or those seeking a stiffer feeling board, consider our high-density CBHP1-H models.

Basic Bodyboard Care

Be Cool!

  • Avoid unnecessary exposure to heat and sunlight. These are enemy #1 to your bodyboard!
  • When not in use, keep your board in a cool, dry, and shaded area.
  • Storing your board flat is preferred, but standing it on its nose is also a common method.

Rinse and Repeat!

  • Give your board a thorough rinse with fresh water after EVERY session. This removes abrasive, corrosive, and other harmful elements.
  • Your fins, leash, and wetsuit will thank you as well.

Dry Like a Pro!

  • Don't just toss your board—give it some respect!
  • Give it a good towel rubdown and then let it air dry.
  • Moisture trapped in the wrong places is a fast track to funk and damage.

Seasoned Traveler!

  • Slide your board into a padded bodyboard bag, or wrap it in a towel or bubble wrap.
  • Guard it like your VIP pass to the next perfect swell.

C'mon Now! (What Not to Do)

  • Don't drag your bodyboard in the sand.
  • Don't try to ride ankle-high waves.
  • Don't carry your board by its leash.
  • These are three quick ways to do damage.

Ding Patrol!

  • Got a ding? Don't ghost it—patch it up!
  • A simple fix can sometimes save your board and maintain your quiver.

Stay Connected!

  • Strap on and double-check the leash connection with confidence.
  • Your leash keeps your board from getting thrashed or even lost.
  • It also ensures you have your board for some needed float when you're ready for a break.

Use Your Head!

  • Hold off on paddling out if the waves look beyond your skill set or you're unfamiliar with the break.
  • Surf smart and stay safe.
